Nitrogen (N) is important for producing chlorophyll, which allows plants to turn sunlight into food. It is the most important nutrient for plant growth. Without nitrogen, plants cannot make chlorophyll, the green pigment that makes photosynthesis possible. Chlorophyll enables plants to produce carbohydrates and proteins needed for plant growth.

Phosphorus (P) encourages the growth and strength of stems, flowers, and roots. Phosphorus is critical to photosynthesis because it works with nitrogen to create proteins and enzymes that help the plant make energy from sunlight. The major function of phosphorus is to help a plant develop strong root systems and healthy leaves. Plants require more phosphorus than nitrogen or potassium because it is a structural component in plants. It also helps plants produce seeds and fruit while they are growing and maturing fruits, tubers and root crops.

Potassium (K) is one of the three key nutrients that plants need to grow. It aids in supporting a plant’s metabolism by regulating the movement of water, nutrients and minerals throughout the plant tissue. Most foliage plants, including those in cacti and succulent collections, contain elevated potassium levels. In fact, all fertilizers should have this element included in some form. It helps to improve plant growth and boosts the rate of photosynthesis through its effect on chlorophyll production.

Traditional Cultivation (soil) dilution ratio:

General Application @ 1:1000-2000  (once fortnightly)

Hydroponics (soil-less) dilution ratio:

1:750-1500 at the plant growing/developing stage depending on crop species
